Columbia GorgeThe Stewart family of Hood River, Oregon transitioned their fruit-growing operation to organic in 1989. At that time many of the methods and materials for growing organic tree fruit did not exist. Ron Stewart helped pioneer many of the techniques that are now commonplace on organic farms throughout the northwest.
Columbia Gorge's 180 acres of certified organic orchards produce apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines and plums. Some of this fruit is shipped fresh, some is canned, and some is made into a unique line of fresh organic juices and smoothies.
